Vagabond Heart

Poem, October 2018.


Mid-autumn, cold night—
everything’s a bitter reminder.
No messages, no response, nothing to break the silence.

Only so many times you can rebuild a fallen tower.
Guess I’ll go bottle it up;
She’s probably considering another.

Mid-autumn, cold night—
it sucks to be alone.
People come, people go, it’s all I’ve ever known.

I wonder what it’s like to keep a friend?
I’ll probably never know.

Mid-autumn, cold night—
looks like I’m back on my own.
